College Football 26: Don't Do These Things When Recruiting

Time to return to the modern day and get back to my favorite thing: giving CFB 26 recruiting tips.

After a month-long jaunt into the 20-year past recounting all that was the Xbox 360 sports game launch, it’s time to return to the present (or at least the less than six-months old) and talk about some College Football 26 recruiting tips.

The real CFB Playoffs are also just around the corner, and I’m back addicted to CFB 26, and so I felt it was the right time to return to what started this premium newsletter by giving some fresh tips for how to get the most out of recruiting in College Football 26.

For those who want to read any premium newsletters, you can do so with the free trial, no matter whether you have done the 30-day free trial in the past or not. I dedicated the whole month of November to the Xbox 360 sports game launch lineup. I covered NBA Live 06, FIFA 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, Madden 06, NBA 2K6, and NHL 2K6.

If you want to hang with your fellow OSers, here’s your weekly reminder to also join the OS Discord if you want to chat with me or others from the community. If you sign-up for the premium newsletter, send a direct message to either Rob S (thekernelpop) or ChaseB (chucklesbiscotti) on Discord, and either one of us will add you to the extra Supporters area on Discord, and we have a snazzy role and badge to give you on there, too.

We also now have an official OS app! You can download it now on Google Play and iOS. We have put out multiple updates the past couple weeks. If you have trouble loading the app after previously downloading it (especially on iOS), delete it and then re-download the app.

I’ll be doing my Game of the Year stuff at the end of the month (likely over two weeks of newsletters), but with that in mind, I’ve been returning back to most of the heavy hitters this year to get my thoughts in order — hence why I’m addicted once again to CFB 26.

It also feels like we’ve reached a “critical mass” of CFB 26 recruiting tips in all corners of the internet, which is a positive, but also means there’s a lot of shaky info out there as well. I don’t think any of the “wrong” info I’ve seen has any malicious intent behind it, I just think people don’t gather enough data or they get too eager to make something before looking at all the angles.

To be clear, not every word of my 14,000+ word guide from back in August is 100 percent perfect either at this point, but this is why the angle for this week’s newsletter is more about what to avoid in your dynasty. This includes things to watch out for in Year 1, and other things to watch out for closer to Year 10.

So in this guide we’ll be going through coaching trees (for you and your assistants), recruiting itself, things to watch for as you get deeper into your dynasty, what to avoid early on when recruiting, what to scout (and not scout), and more.

My hope with this guide is, as always, to give some tips that help you with competitive online dynasties, but also give you things that will help you enjoy the single-player experience in a more “sim” way as well.

Let’s get into it.
