Whatchu Know About Sports Games: Volume 1

This week’s newsletter is something entirely unique, and by that I mean it’s barely a newsletter at all. Instead, what I wanted to do was create what I hope is the first of many sports gaming quizzes that challenge your sports gaming knowledge.

I love game shows. I love taking quizzes. I love bar trivia. I love sports games. So why not create my own list of questions to challenge you all?

Another reason I wanted to do a trivia game this week on the history of sports games is because next week I’m starting what I plan to do for the entire month of November, which is a retrospective on the launch of the Xbox 360.

We’re hitting the 20-year anniversary of the launch of the Xbox 360 and the start of the high-definition era. We may not have known it at the time, but the Xbox 360’s launch was ultimately a massive moment for sports games and the direction they would head.

I plan to look back through every single sports game that launched with the Xbox 360, while also taking a look at the PS2/Xbox games that were also coming out that year. I’m really looking forward to it, and I hope you all are to.

In other words, I’ve had the history of sports games on my mind as of late, so I wanted to put it to some use.
