What We’re Building Next at Operation Sports
Here's why we think this next step is so important.
In the last email, I talked about why Operation Sports needs to evolve.
Today, I want to talk about what that evolution actually looks like.
Over the next couple of weeks, we’re launching an Operation Sports subscription service built around one simple idea: make OS more sustainable, more connected, and more rewarding for the people who care the most.

At launch, there will be three subscription tiers. I’ll break those down in detail tomorrow, but before getting into perks and pricing, it’s important to explain what this is — and what it isn’t.
This isn’t a paywall.
This isn’t us locking the site away.
And it isn’t about turning OS into something unrecognizable.
The site, forums, and free newsletter aren’t going anywhere.
What is changing is that we’re finally building a direct relationship with the community, one that lets us focus less on chasing traffic and more on creating a better experience for the people already here.
So what does that actually unlock?
Over time, subscriptions will allow us to:
Offer forum perks and quality-of-life upgrades
Offer ad-free reading and browsing
Host online community events
Create more direct interaction between OS staff and members
Experiment with features and ideas without worrying about algorithms or ad performance
This is also how we begin to move OS toward something more stable and independent. When we’re less dependent on Google and ads, we have more freedom to build OS around the things that made it special in the first place: in-depth conversation about sports games, sharing our ideas and ways we make sports games better, and tying it together in a community of people who love to talk about all that and more.
The three tiers are designed to give people options. Some of you may just want to support OS and enjoy a cleaner experience. Others may want deeper access, more involvement, and more ways to participate in what we’re building. Some of you will choose neither of those options, and that’s fine as well since you’ll still be able to do everything you were able to before.
In the next email, I’ll walk through:
The three tiers
What’s included with each
And how you fit into the future of Operation Sports
For now, I wanted to give you a clearer picture of where this is heading and why we’re excited about it.
More soon.
