Revisit the Zoom Camera in Madden 26 and CFB 26 -- It's Worth It

A fresh perspective sometimes opens up all-new ways to play, this is why the Zoom camera deserves another look.

Camera angles are a minor obsession for me, and when it comes to EA’s football games, they’re a minor frustration.

If you’ve been around OS for years, you know that we’ve talked about camera angles — the lack of them that is — many times over the years.

We now have an official OS Account that you all can sign-up for right now. I implore all of you, whether you want to subscribe to a paid tier or not, to go that site and sign-up. Go there, click the “Sign In” button and then use either Discord or your OS name to log-in and connect everything together.

It will make your life easier on the forums and Discord even if you’re just going with the Rookie/free tier. If you somehow have no account on OS or Discord, you can make a totally fresh account at that link as well.

And speaking of which, please join the OS Discord.

I have created a little cottage industry built around discussing how EA is missing the boat with its restrictive camera angles, but I have also talked plenty about how to get more out of the camera angles that exist.

Usually that has come in the form of talking about how to tweak the broadcast camera to better function as a usable gameplay camera, but that’s not the only angle to approach things from.

This brings me to today’s guest contributor, and someone who I hope will be a regular moving forward. CM Hooe is long-time member of OS, and he’s also a football obsessive whose goals align a lot with what I think OS is all about when it comes to talking about “strategy” in terms of video game football.

I think a lot of what we care about at OS (and why people came there in the first place) is bringing our fandom of real sports into the video game in a way that respects the real sport and heightens our appreciation for it.

You all didn’t come to OS to learn all the “cheese” plays or exploit everything. You came to OS because you wanted to try and get more “real” out of your video game football. Now, that “realness” can come in a lot of different forms, but one of them is how we choose to play the game.

A lot of us gravitate to a broadcast camera because we’re tying to play it like we see on TV each week, but some of us also want to get after that experience of feeling like we’re the QB or the RB on the field.

This is a part of what CM Hooe’s article is about today. He’ll be discussing why the Zoom camera deserves another look from you, and he’ll detail the advantages you can get out of it from a football perspective.

He’ll be showcasing some videos of the Zoom camera's advantages, how it can change your game, and detailing all the ways it can freshen up your experience, which is especially important now that the seasons are winding down.

With that in mind, I now hand things off to him.
