The Tools You Need to Get More Realism Out of NBA 2K MyNBA Franchise Mode

If you want to get even more realism and fun out of your NBA 2K MyNBA experience, marshdaddy has been working on some things that will do just that for you.

There are so many ways OSers give back to the community, and it’s why I signed up as a member long before I started working for OS back around 2007 or so. Whether it’s sliders, rosters, general thoughtful discussions, or even writing up franchise and dynasty mode stories, it’s clear many of us care about our sports games even when we’re not playing them.

That care and time many OSers put into these games is incredible, and it’s why I wanted to start doing this interview series with OS members. I wanted to give them a platform in the Wednesday newsletter to talk with other super hardcore OSers in our little circle of trust, basically treating it like an extension of the Supporters Forum (if you know you know, as they say).

The inaugural version was my chat with studbucket, who on top of being supremely helpful and genuine, has the long-running Bulgarian Brothers dynasty write-up. Among the basketball dynasties, his series is one of the longest running, and the other longest running series comes from today’s interviewee, marshdaddy.

Here’s your weekly reminder that I’d love if even more of you joined the OS Discord. We had a good time doing a watchalong for the Eagles-Cowboys season opener last week, and if you’re in the Discord already, you’re free to suggest some other events you’d like to do watchalongs for in the future.

We’re also continuing to run the 30-day FREE trial here for anyone who wants to test the waters and receive this full extra newsletter on Wednesdays rather than just the preview.

If you do sign up for that and are on the Discord, DM either Rob S (thekernelpop) or ChaseB (chucklesbiscotti). Either one of us will add you to the extra Supporters area on Discord, and we have a snazzy role and badge to give you on Discord, too.

Marsh’s Golden Era thread has been running since peak Covid time back in 2020, and he’s long been the guy I’d point to if you want inspiration for how to mix amazing dynasty stories together with tons of multimedia. He so clearly loves sports games and the whole world of sports media, and that’s a perfect mix for an awesome dynasty write-up.

Today I chatted with him about his inspiration for the Golden Era, his past with OS, and also about some things he’s released for NBA 2K itself. The tools Marsh has been working on are designed to give tons of extra life to the franchise mode experience in NBA 2K, and I wanted him to have a platform to discuss both his Free Agency Tool and the GM Simulator, both of which will work for NBA 2K26 or older versions of the game. Those tools are out now, and since they’re tools you can control yourself, they’ll work on both PC and console. They’re designed to try and infuse the mode with extra realism and fun, make trades and signings more engaging, and also alleviate some pressure if you want to manage 30-team control in an easier way.

So, let’s jump into that interview now and chat with marsh so he can explain what these tools do and how to use them, plus we’ll be talking about his history with OS and sports games overall.
