College Football 26 Transfer Portal Targets Guide (Part 1)
For this week, we'll be covering QBs and HBs. All other positions will be added next week.
As Christmas Eve sets in, I wanted to do something a little more technical to wrap up the year. And with it being bowl season, the transfer portal opening up in real life, and EA putting out updated ratings, it felt like a good time to put together a full transfer portal targets guide that covers most of the usual people you’ll see after Year 1 of a dynasty with default settings in place.
For those who want to read any premium newsletters, you can do so with the free trial, no matter whether you have done the 30-day free trial in the past or not.
If you want to hang with your fellow OSers, here’s your weekly reminder to also join the OS Discord if you want to chat with me or others from the community. If you sign-up for the premium newsletter, send a direct message to either Rob S (thekernelpop) or ChaseB (chucklesbiscotti) on Discord, and either one of us will add you to the extra Supporters area on Discord, and we have a snazzy role and badge to give you on there, too.
We also have an official OS app! You can download it now on Google Play and iOS. We have put out multiple updates the past couple weeks. We also have a survey up now if you want to give feedback on the app.
Finally, we’re running a giveaway with the prize being a 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus. You can enter up until January 24.
With this initial list, I am just covering the QBs and RBs (roughly 270 potential targets), but all other positions will be added next week. I am focusing just on Year 1 (and using default portal settings) because the “usual targets” are harder to pinpoint after people swap teams.
And if you — like me — tweak transfer portal settings to stop so many players from entering the portal, that’s okay as well — this list still works, it just covers more players than you’ll see per team.
So what’s in this spreadsheet for the players?
The usual bio stuff (name, position, year, archetype)
OVR rating when entering the portal, plus their star rating on their player card (just for fun, doesn’t really mean much)
Their portal star rating
Their Development Trait
Their Dealbreaker
Key attributes
Their skill cap totals
In addition, I mention which players don’t always enter the portal, which sometimes enter the NFL Draft, and then I also list whether they have chosen to enter the portal in real life or not (as of now at least) just to give a little real life touch to it.
Any players I don’t list, I generally just don’t think are worth looking at overall — albeit eye of the beholder plays a part in that one.
Lastly, because only so many 5-star players enter the portal each season, this will change some of the highest end players you see year to year when simulating Year 1, so those are the guys I worry a little less about because obviously you want whatever 5-star dudes are in there (you don’t need me to tell you that).
