College Football 26 Transfer Portal Targets Full Guide (Over 1000 Players Listed)
Get the rundown on player after player at every position.
The Transfer Portal officially opens in real life in just a couple days, so I am here to deliver the second part of a mega guide that spans every position in College Football 26.
Whether it’s quarterbacks or kickers, I have listed prospective targets at every position for the end of Year 1. This means there are over 1,000 players in this guide.
Apologies that this newsletter is coming out a little later than usual today, but I didn’t have power the last day due to some weather so we’re just now getting back on track.
For those who want to read any premium newsletters, you can do so with the 30-day free trial.
If you want to hang with your fellow OSers, here’s your weekly reminder to also join the OS Discord if you want to chat with me or others from the community. If you sign-up for the premium newsletter, send a direct message to either Rob S (thekernelpop) or ChaseB (chucklesbiscotti) on Discord, and either one of us will add you to the extra Supporters area on Discord, and we have a snazzy role and badge to give you on there, too.
We also have an official OS app! You can download it now on Google Play and iOS. We have put out multiple updates the past couple weeks. We also have a survey up now if you want to give feedback on the app.
Finally, we’re running a giveaway with the prize being a 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus. You can enter up until January 24.
As I said last week, it’s not as worth it to go beyond Year 1 because things start to get way too spread out, but you should be able to identify most players at a glance with this guide.
Here is what’s in the guide:
Bio (name, position, year, archetype)
OVR rating when entering the portal, plus the star rating on their player card (just for fun, doesn’t really mean much)
Their portal star rating for most players (it’s not that relevant most of the time and it can vary slightly)
Their Development Trait
Their Dealbreaker
Key attributes for every player (usually focused on the attributes that will get them their badges)
Their skill cap totals
Some random scouting reports here and there
I list (to the best of the current knowledge) whether someone is transferring in real life or not as of now.
I list whether someone usually goes pro after Year 1
I list whether someone more consistently makes it into the portal or not after Year 1
I give a general outlook for every position
One caveat is that some players are still going to slip through the cracks here. How teams do in simulations will alter who makes it into the portal to some degree so there will always be some outlier players. In addition, your Transfer Portal settings will alter who makes it into the Year 1 pool of players, so I did all of this with default settings in place.
With that said, I think this is a valuable guide to use if you’re in competitive dynasties or just messing around. Plus, a lot of these players can still be tracked into Year 2 and beyond so you can use this cheat sheet to gauge whether someone is worth it if you see them in the portal the following season as well.
Finally, whether you check the guide out or not, I will still list my general power rankings for the positions in the portal. I basically judge the positions based on the amount of players available, how easy it is to recruit them when doing “normal” recruiting during the season, and the ability you have to turn over an entire position through only the portal.
Rankings (Best Positions To Target In The Portal)
QB
EDGE
WR
CB
RB
DT
FS
T
MIKE
WILL
SS
G
C
SAM
What these should tell you is that you should focus your “normal” recruiting hours before you reach the Transfer Portal more on building your football team like a baseball team. Build “up the middle” so to speak and then work outside from there.
The “skill” positions are where you can EAT in the portal, but finding quality offensive line and defensive tackle help is not always easy in the portal, plus finding linebackers and safeties across the board isn’t easy at any point — except when focusing on ATH to fill the gaps at those positions.
Have an awesome New Year, and I’ll see y’all on Friday for the next one.
